Step into the only on-site brewery in Ely, Minnesota! The Boathouse Brewpub & Restaurant is a great spot to gather with full pub menu and a brewery where the flavors are always changing. You'll always be excited to see what new beer they'll brew next! Their easy read menu hosts gluten and vegetarian options with their classic pub food selection. Be sure to try their signature dishes that are unique to the Boathouse Brewpub & Restaurant such as the Motorboat Burger and the 1000 Lakes Burger. Get ready to savor the juiciest burger patties, made from fresh, never frozen ground steak!

Bring your friends because there's plenty of seats! You have the option of sitting at the bar or tables at the lower level or head upstairs to the Lookout Lounge. The Lookout Lounge is spacious and can hold twice as many people as the lower level. Be aware that the Lookout Lounge might not always be available due to being rented out for a wedding, party, or trivia night. Whether you are hanging out in the lower level or in the Lookout Lounge, you'll feel the kick back and relax atmosphere.

The Boathouse Brewpub & Restaurant has gone through a bit of a journey when Brian Tome became part owner and chef in 2020. At the time, the Lookout Lounge didn't exist and was originally 6 empty apartments. During the dreaded year of the big shut down, Brian took the opportunity to renovate tearing out the apartments and creating the lounge area that you see today. When the Boathouse Brewpub & Restaurant re-opened in 2021, the new renovations were a huge hit! Brian Tome started out his career as a dishwasher then went to culinary school before becoming part owner. He's an inspiring example that with dedication to learning and hard work, you can achieve incredible success!

My Experience

I was amazed by how spacious it was inside. It seemed like every time I made a turn around a corner there was more area where you could hang out and relax. The servers were very busy and hard at work. What didn't slow them down was making sure you had everything you need and were having a good time. Our group decided to order and share a thin crust pizza. We all enjoyed it and were happy with generous toppings. The crust was crisp and held its shape well. Definitely no soggy pizza here! It was an overall good pizza and was plenty for the four of us. I am eager to go back to the Boathouse Brewpub & Restaurant and try other items on the menu.
