Updated: Oct 16

Get ready for a night filled with magic, emotions, and breathtaking beauty! The Lights Festival is like stepping into a fairy tale princess dream come true. It's an event that everyone simply must experience! At the Lights Festival, you'll receive special lanterns to release into the night sky. Watching thousands of lanterns float upwards is truly awe-inspiring. It's amazing how this event fills everyone with peace, love, and joy as they witness this incredible sight!

The Lights Festival is an exciting event that travels across the United States, bringing unique experiences to each location. Every festival is one-of-a-kind, featuring a variety of local food trucks and talented local musicians who perform on stage as everyone eagerly awaits the sunset.

What are the lanterns and how safe is it?

Each adult ticket holder receives a special lantern crafted exclusively for this event. These lanterns are 100% biodegradable, made from rice paper to ensure safety by preventing the fire from spreading across the entire lantern. They also have a short burn time, so they don't drift far, and every single lantern is carefully picked up and disposed of properly. Plus, the fire department is right on site to give the exciting go-ahead for everyone to light up their lanterns!

Tips and Tricks to Make the Night Most Memorable

~You don't need to arrive right at opening but be sure not to get there too late. It really doesn't matter if you're sitting in the front or back during the launch of the lanterns. However, you'll want to be there with plenty of time before dark. Parking and getting checked in to receive your lantern can take a bit of time. You don't want to run into the problem of being too dark to see where to sit and have to battle through people to get to one of the fire torches.

~Pay attention to the direction of the wind. Even when there is practically no wind, you'll want to pay very close attention to the direction it's blowing. The slightest draft/breeze makes a huge difference for the lanterns. You'll want to be towards the edge of the crowd where the lanterns will be blowing away from you. If you're more in the middle or in the path of the lanterns, you may get bumped by a lantern that got released too soon and didn't have a chance to fully heat up to float upward.

~Find a spot next to a fire torch. You'll need to light up those lanterns. Find a spot next to a torch for better access. If you decided to sit out more in the back of the field then you'll have to get in line to use a torch to light your lantern. It's better to have the torch close by, light the lantern and enjoy the view.

~Sign up for VIP email list to get the lowest discount price. If you see an event venue close to you, don't wait on getting those tickets! The prices go up the longer you wait. The VIP tickets is the lowest price you'll find! They are limited so hop on the price quick once you get the email.

~Bring blankets, chairs, and games! Just like an outdoor cookout, bring something to claim your spot and relax. You can bring your own food and drinks if you prefer instead of the grabbing food from a food truck. Alcohol is strictly prohibited due to fire safety. Games are great to bring for entertainment while listening to the live music.

~Be prepared for date changes or cancellations. The Lights Festival is an outdoor event. Weather is a huge factor. If it's raining or too windy, the event will be canceled or rescheduled. The Lights Festival is excellent with notifying of any changes and are easy to work with if refunds are issued. Be sure to check your email often to ensure that you won't miss any updates or changes.

The Lights Festival

My Experience

I have attended the Lights Festival 3 times so far and plan on going to more! It's one of those events that I eagerly wait every year for when they announce that they'll be in town. The very first year I saw an ad for the Lights Festival, I was intrigued. I thought it would be something neat for my daughter to see, while at the time, she was really into watching Rapunzel (Disney movie 'Tangled'). I was so glad that we went because now I'm forever hooked. My husband even had a blast and was mesmerized by the beautiful sight of the floating lanterns. He also was entertained by people dodging the lanterns that got released a little too early. That's how we discovered the best spots to watch the lights float up to the sky. This is an event that I can't reiterate enough. It's a must do, it's unforgettable, and you'll want to go every year! If you have never heard of the Lights Festival, go to their website to find an event near you. Get those tickets! You'll thank me later.
